Yes you read that correctly. What does your telephone voice look like?
Whenever you or one of your team picks up the phone, the customer is creating a mental image of you and your business as they listen!
Do you know what type of picture you are painting for them?
Have you ever called your business and listened to how your team sound on the phone... OMG
Don't PANIC!! - This can be fixed.
In Coming Phone Mastery
TIP 1: The phone is an EXTENSION of the business, in fact for a lot of clubs it's the lifeline for it.
It is vital to understand that the telephone (much like the internet) is a gateway to reach current and potential members and/or clients.
Much is said about modern technology through email and e-marketing, and though these are important in the marketing and sales mix, there is nothing more effective than...
The power of human interaction.
The power of tonality and real human, verbal communication can massively accelerate success in the fitness industry.
REMEMBER that people love people contact when it's done the right way... watch your appointment numbers boom!
TIP 2: Phone manner and communication skills can make or break your business. Where are you headed in 2011?
The phone is the FACE of your club/ your centre/ your studio or PT business.
Even before they have a chance to come in and see you or in some cases speak to you (as reception may answer the phone first, then pass onto membership consultant), your customers are creating a mental image of what they feel their experience will be like at your facility.
Whenever you or one of your team picks up the phone, the customer is beginning to paint a picture of you and your business!
Do you know what type of picture you are painting for them?
Do you have a protocol for how the phone is answered in your business?
Is it powerful and inviting or are you still receiving many price enquiries? Like...
(How much are your memberships? Or how much do you charge for Personal Training?)
The way you start your phone call can determine the number of Price enquiries and determined the customer is "JUST WANTING PRICE"
TIP 3: The phone is the most UNDERUTILISED income tool in health & fitness industry.
With approx 70% of Australians having a mobile phone it amazes me how underutilised the phone is within the fitness industry.
We are in the People business and communication is the key.
We should love the phone and in each call we should be focussing on having a super-powerful introduction, then generating Rapport, Uncovering motivating reasons for looking at starting an exercise or fitness plan, share some of the unique benefits of our business, and then inviting them to come and see us to show them the best way to get started on achieving the results they would like to see.
The biggest mistake the Fitness industry makes is being too focussed on making an Appointment way to early in the Call.
TIP 4: Sales People/Personal Trainers should be spending 50%-70% of their time on the phone making contacts and booking appointments
"I'm either in front of someone or on the phone trying to get in front of someone"
I dare you to live by this rule for only the next 30 days and see what happens to the amount of sales and opportunities you create for your business!
The one common denominator the most successful fitness businesses have is that they are constantly looking at ways to maximise their opportunities to get in front of more people.
Almost any phone call can incorporate one of the following conversations:
Retention, referrals, limiting cancellations, increasing member visits, renewals, Personal Training and much more...
Are you simply getting on the phone, answering the question then getting of???
All of these problems I've just highlighted above are fixable and can be turned around. If you suffered one or more than one of the above
